Therapy Session

Truama informed therapy for healing and recovery.

I specialise in supporting individuals navigating the lasting impact of PTSD, abuse, and self-harm, providing a safe, compassionate space for healing, resilience, and recovery.

Through both professional experience and personal understanding, I recognise how difficult it can be to take the first step towards therapy, especially when these experiences can feel deeply painful, isolating, or surrounded by shame and fear.

Topics such as abuse and self-harm are still often seen as taboo, and many people worry about being judged, misunderstood, or overwhelmed by speaking their experiences out loud for the first time.

I also understand that many clients feel anxious about confidentiality and what may happen if they share sensitive information in therapy, particularly around experiences of abuse.

Recent legal changes introduced in the UK from January this year have strengthened protections around counselling notes and client confidentiality, helping to provide greater reassurance and privacy for those seeking support.

My approach is warm, compassionate, and centred around you as an individual. I work creatively and adapt therapy to suit each person’s unique needs, experiences, and pace, recognising that healing is never one-size-fits-all. Whether through talking therapy, creative approaches, grounding techniques, or simply creating a safe space to be heard without judgement, my aim is to help you feel supported, empowered, and able to move towards healing in a way that feels safe and manageable for you.

Specialities

PTSD can develop after experiencing or witnessing deeply distressing or overwhelming events, leaving people feeling anxious, emotionally numb, constantly on edge, or stuck reliving painful memories. It can affect relationships, confidence, sleep, and day-to-day life in ways that often feel exhausting and isolating. As a therapist, I offer a safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where we can gently explore your experiences at a pace that feels right for you. Together, we work towards understanding the impact of trauma, building emotional safety, and helping you reconnect with a greater sense of calm, strength, and control.

Self-harm is often a way of coping with overwhelming emotions, distress, or experiences that can feel difficult to express or manage. For many people, it can become a response to emotional pain, anxiety, trauma, or feelings of being unheard or disconnected. As a therapist, I provide a warm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and safely about what you are going through. Together, we work to understand the emotions beneath the self-harm, develop healthier coping strategies, and build greater self-compassion, emotional resilience, and hope for the future.

Abuse can take many forms, including emotional, physical, sexual, psychological, financial, or coercive and controlling behaviour. The impact of abuse can often continue long after the experiences themselves, affecting self-esteem, relationships, trust, and emotional wellbeing. You may find yourself feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or struggling to make sense of what has happened. As a therapist, I offer a safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where your experiences will be heard and validated. Together, we can gently explore the impact of abuse, help you regain a sense of safety and self-worth, and support you in moving towards healing, empowerment, and recovery.
